Who We Are and How We Relate – Our foundation for Men supporting Men.

The following statements comprise our individual and collective Framework. Men, just like you, created and continue to develop them*. For us, they provide the foundation we build from to achieve the healing and growth we (the men of MKP Australia) are seeking for ourselves, our families, our workplaces and our communities.

MISSION

We support this mission statement: The ManKind Project exists to create a safer world by growing better men. We do this by training men, supporting them in circles and inspiring them to missions of service.

VISION

We share a vision of a safe world where all men are brothers, nurturing one another and their families, communities, and the earth; and where conflicts are resolved peacefully, ending torture, genocide, domestic violence and senseless wars.

VALUES

We honour the core values of the ManKind Project: Accountability, Authenticity, Compassion, Generosity, Integrity, Leadership, Multicultural Awareness and Respect.

Our Core Principles – how we strive to think, speak and act

These Principles and Elements guide our beliefs about how we strive to show up in our lives. While we may not always live up to each of these principles, this is what we aspire to. These beliefs and behavioural descriptors state the ongoing agreement we undertake, with ourselves and others, when we choose to live as active members of the MKP Brotherhood.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and LEADERSHIP

  • I take full responsibility for my life.
  • My life is my creation – this may or may not be factually true; however, I choose to empower myself by taking responsibility for my life.
  • I don’t wait for others to create what is important to me in my life and in my world. I am responsible for my thinking, my feelings, my beliefs, my choices and my actions.
  • I maintain consciousness of my victim and choose to move out of reactive patterns and into proactive and creative behaviours.
  • I take personal leadership in my own life. I am conscious of my impact on others.

MISSION and PURPOSE

  • I choose to discover my mission of service and live it fully and passionately.
  • I take personal leadership in creating my vision here on earth.
  • I strongly support and encourage others to do the same.

INTEGRITY and ACTION

  • I live in Integrity with my Mission.
  • My word is my bond. I am who I say I am. I am trustworthy.
  • I know my values and beliefs and live them in the world.
  • I make choices and take action to live my mission and fulfill my commitments.
  • I keep my promises. I do what I say I will do. I walk my talk.
  • I ask for help when I need it. I ask for what I want.
  • I move through my fear. I take risks.

ACCOUNTABILITY and SELF AWARENESS

  • I am accountable for my choices and actions, both conscious and unconscious, as well as for their consequences.
  • I maintain consciousness and ownership of my feelings and judgments.
  • I ask others to hold themselves accountable when they are out of integrity with their agreements with me. I own my stuff.
  • I question authority with compassion. I am not intentionally offensive or abusive.
  • I seek to understand the impact of my choices and actions through asking for and receiving honest, effective feedback from others.

TRUTH TELLING and HONESTY

  • I openly speak my truth cleanly and clearly.
  • I am sincere and honest. I live from my heart. I do not withhold or omit the truth.
  • I am authentic. I speak clearly and directly to men of my perceptions, feelings and judgments. I am open and transparent with information.
  • I do not practice “sideways” (passive-aggressive) comments or gossip, and I invite others to consider their intention when I judge that they are doing so.
  • I seek truth and understanding of myself and others.
